Developing Your Style in Acrylics

Throughout the week we will explore various painting techniques with a view to improving your style. Also covered will be the colours and equipment we use. Subject matter will be provided, please feel free to bring along any sketches or photos that you would like to try. There will be several demonstrations throughout the week to illustrate different methods of working. Individual tuition at all levels is given as and when required. You will find plenty of enthusiastic encouragement for painters, both accomplished and those with less experience.

On the first day, following an introductory talk, there will a demonstration and discussion on tone. Our first painting will be a tonal study painted from sketches provided or from your own sketchbooks. From this we will develop a painting using a limited pallet.

To allow for different levels of ability, students will work at their own pace.

Subjects we will cover are, painting from photographs, skies, trees, water and the dreaded ‘green’. There will be demonstrations to illustrate various points.

A still life and flower study will be set up in the studio.

Materials

Some materials will be provided.

Please bring along your usual equipment.

Bring along any of your own photographs or sketches that you would like to work from. Other photos will be provided by the tutor.

Tutor: Mo Teeuw

Professional artist and experienced tutor with a large following.

Mo’s paintings are about light so likes to work outdoors, taking paintings and sketches back to the studio for that final polish.

Mostly self-taught has worked alongside some of the UK’s foremost artists.

Mo welcomes all abilities on her courses as she teaches on an individual basis. There are also plenty of group demonstrations with opportunities for questions.

Mo takes a lighthearted approach to teaching, as she firmly believes that learning should be fun but that does not mean she isn’t serious about her art.
