Beginners Watercolour

This course provides the opportunity to learn how to draw and paint watercolour landscapes. During the week, demonstrations given by the tutor will teach the students the different skills and techniques of watercolour painting.The course is based on landscapes using photos supplied by the tutor who will also help guide students individually through the exercises.By the end of the week students will be able to produce watercolour landscapes using the skills and techniques learnt during the course.

This course provides the opportunity to learn how to draw and paint watercolour landscapes. Topics covered include basic techniques in drawing, painting, and colour mixing.

Also included in the course will be working from photographs, sketching with line and wash techniques.

Subjects will include skies, trees, buildings and landscapes using photographs supplied by the tutor.

Each session will include demonstrations by the tutor who will also help guide the students individually through the exercises. By the end of the course the students will be able to produce watercolour landscapes using the skills and techniques learnt during the course.

The Summer School will provide all equipment needed for the course.

All tools and materials will be supplied by the Summer School. The course is aimed at beginners and students with some experience, so if you have some of your own tools and materials then you are welcome to bring them with you.

This course is landscape based and will include the use photographic reference material supplied by the tutor.

About the tutor

 

Jonathan Newey is an award winning artist who comes from a long line of artists in his family. He has extensive experience in a wide range of mediums including watercolour, acrylic and coloured pencils and has exhibited in many exhibitions and galleries including The Mall Galleries, London, Society of Birmingham Artists and West of England Academy.
