Nordic Walking for Improvers
This course is for those who have already learned Nordic Walking, but would like to brush up on their technique, and go for walks in the lovely Wiltshire countryside.
Our walks will range between four and seven miles, depending on timings and terrain, and will give you a chance to use your poles in testing, as well as normal situations. On this course you will be able to explore further the areas and technique between body and pole that can enhance your fitness level, lengthen your stride and move you forward with a clearer knowledge and awareness of what you are aiming for. Poles will be available for use, but feel free to bring your own, so long as they are proper Nordic Walking Poles. The tutor will be with you to answer any queries which may have arisen since you first learned this exciting recreational sport. This course is suitable for Nordic Walkers who can do the above mileage, and at a reasonable pace.
This course is for those who have already learned Nordic Walking, but may want to brush up on their technique, whilst Nordic Walking in the lovely countryside.
Our walks will take us to the forest, hills tracks and lanes not too far from College. Our tutor will be with you all the time, helping to iron out those bad habits you may have picked up! Generally speaking the aim is to allow each person to get the very best health and fitness benefit from the use of their poles, and to explore the areas of body and stride that may have been neglected during their own walks.
You will need lightweight walking boots or sturdy trainers, thin layers of clothing that can be removed and stored in your smallish rucksack. A waterproof jacket, in case of rain, and this too needs to be stored in your rucksack if not needed. Remember, you cannot tie clothing around your waist whilst Nordic walking, as it will interfere with your poles. Thin gloves, hats and waterproof trousers if needed. Water to drink, camera, in case you spot something you wish to preserve!
If you have your own Nordic Walking Poles, you can use those, or you can also use ours. The tutor has the right to refuse to take any student on a walk who has incorrect poles or clothing.
Walks will vary, but you need to be able to walk between four and seven miles at a reasonable pace.
Nordic Walking is hugely beneficial to health and fitness, and Maggie makes the classes and walks fun rather than arduous! She teaches at various holiday centres and colleges across the country, works with her local county councils for classes locally in her home county of Suffolk, and also takes private students for holidays or day classes. Maggie trained to be an instructor with Nordic walking UK a few years ago, and has been so impressed by its benefits that she has worked tirelessly to promote it wherever she can.
