Sculpture Workshop for Improvers

We are always being asked for a more advanced workshop and here it is. This is a course for those who have already completed a sculpture workshop or who have previous experience in sculpture. The aim of the course is to help you develop ideas from previous workshops. We will also be introducing you to ways of making work permanent enough to be placed outdoors using materials such as Portland cement, cement fondue and Fibrocem. Those wishing to carve in stone should indicate their preference beforehand.

We will help you in the creative development of an idea and in bringing it into being through a material. The qualities of each material offer particular opportunities for expression. Some things are better realized through being modeled and cast, while others may benefit from being made in a permanent material applied over an armature.

Because of the curing time involved with some of these materials and their weight and cost, sculptures need to be of a moderate size.

Requirements

All materials and tools will be provided, but you may bring your own if you wish.

For safety reasons, we ask you to wear sensible shoes (not sandals please).

Old clothes are best-for obvious reasons.

We look forward to meeting you all at Summer School.
