Decoupage with Gilding on Glass
Learn how to Découpage with a design cut from paper on the under side of a glass plate or bowl, painting or laying Dutch metal leaf (imitation gold leaf) behind the découpage to give them that touch of luxury and elegance. All materials will be provided for two projects, and extras will be available at cost during the course.
Découpage, as I’m sure you know, is the cutting out of a paper design and sticking it to a painted surface and then varnishing. The lovely thing about sticking it to the inside or underside of glass, is that the glass protects it, so it needs very little varnishing!
At the beginning of the week we will look at a display of finished items, hopefully to inspire you, then you can choose from a selection of glass plates, bowls etc. (at costs) which I will bring with me. Everything else is supplied a huge array of papers, paints, glue, gold leaf, scissors, brushes etc.
When the Découpage is all stuck, you have the choice of gilding behind it, or experimenting with gold paint, sponged on, with toning colours behind it. All the materials we use are water-based, so there is no danger of allergies!
