Adult Courses
New for 2010
CS:
50
Strictly for Beginners
If you think you can neither draw nor paint but feel a creative urge, this course is for you. Using cardboard, glue, brightly coloured inks and textured papers and fabrics we make unexpected works of art with the help of a simple printing technique. Why not join us - you'll be amazed by what you can achieve in just one week!
During the week we will be creating a series of prints and monoprints using a variety of techniques and simple tools. Please bring any of the following as you will find them very useful:
An old toothbrush
A rolling pin,
A few pieces of twig sharpened to a point or wedge,
Used wooden or plastic chop sticks
String
Small pieces of paper (no bigger than A5) with different textures (e.g. corrugated or tissue)
Sand paper
Paper doilies
Feathers
Pressed leaves
Any outline 'black & white' pictures of landscape or seascape, buildings, animals etc. and don't forget to bringan apron.
Paul Klee enjoyed producing monoprints - have a look on Google to see if you can find anything about his work.
I look forward to meeting you and our working together.
About the tutor:
Liz has been running courses in Printmaking over the past years at her own Studio in Inkpen, near Hungerford, in local schools as well as at Marlborough College Summer School.
She exhibits her work regularly, and with the Test Valley Group of Artists and with the West Berkshire Open Studios Scheme, also in Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. Her interest in Printmaking began originally as a result of attending a Marlborough Summer School Course while teaching Art and Ceramics at a large secondary School in Newbury. When she retired she set up her own print making studio. Since then she has developed new and original techniques often inspired by the area of natural beauty in which she lives.
Her classes at Marlborough are always well received by beginners and more experienced artists who are seeking to explore new media and techniques. Liz's courses are always structured in such a way that by the end of the week students have completed a number of pieces of art using different techniques.
They will leave with typescript notes and information on all the methods they have experienced together with a list of suppliers of the necessary materials used in order that they may continue their newly acquired interests at home.
Come and enjoy and have fun !
Liz has a beautiful gallery in the grounds of her house at Inkpen where her work and that of others is on show. See The Beacon Gallery website: - http://www.thebeacongallery.net/
