Making your Colour Sing 2
This course is suitable for anyone wishing to stretch their knowledge of watercolour beyond the standard approach. The goal is to develop not just a way to paint with technical skill but to express an idea with genuine creativity. It is as important to understand the components of good painting as it is to know how the paint works. Making your Colour Sing 2 is supported by a series of guidelines taken from the history of Art. You will look at the palette of a Renaissance painter, the exaggeration of perspective found in a Spanish painter, the imaginative qualities of the landscape, the power of mark making and the texture, and the beauty of abstraction.
During the week, the emphasis is on letting your painting grow with knowledge and individuality. All true artists admit to relying on the inspiration of The Masters to reassure themselves as they develop creatively. This week, your work will reflect a refreshing sense of progress and confidence as you move on in your own personal way. All students are requested to bring along other mediums (pastel, acrylic, ink, coloured pencils) to support the explorative nature and potential of their watercolours.
