Making a Start with Yoga
If you have always meant to begin a yoga course but not quite got around to it, this course will provide a good introduction to yoga and offer an excellent basis for further learning. It will be an enjoyable, friendly and lively class which will be fun as well as informative. There will be an opportunity to explore fundamental postures and breathing techniques with a view to improving flexibility, poise and concentration as well as agility and strength. Yoga is by its very nature non-competitive and participants will be encouraged to work to their own limitations. The course will focus on this approach and you will be surprised how little time it takes to become more pliable and nimble. There will be relaxation time at the end of each class to give you a chance to reflect upon and savour the delight derived from the session.

Yoga and Health
Many people first come to yoga from some health-related problem - whether a bad back, regaining full mobility after an illness or struggling to cope with the varied symptoms of PMS, menopause or stress. During this week focusing on Yoga and Health we will spend a short time each day with input and discussion on how various yogic practices impact on the body. By the end of the week we will know how to devise a short personal practice which may help with specific health-related problems. Each day will also have at its core, a 2 hour practice which will take us through a contemplative practice of breath work, joint-freeing exercises, postures (with appropriate modifications), deep relaxation and meditation.
