Young People's Courses

A multi-activity course designed to be fun, exciting and educational within the surroundings of Marlborough College. Daytime courses cover a wide range of activities from ‘How to draw Cartoons' to ‘Young Clayshot' and from ‘Kickboxing' to ‘Children's Opera'. This well-balanced selection of activities provides opportunities for personal development, individual skills, teamwork and creativity. There are two types of Young Adventurer:

Residential: these YAs may attend residentially with their parents or guardians.

Non-Residential: these YAs are dropped off with the tutors at registration (either at 8.30am or 1.30pm) and are escorted to their activities.

English as a Foreign Language

This course is designed to make English accessible and fun and the emphasis is on thinking in English both orally and on paper. The language input will be functional and youngsters who opt for this will be encouraged to work in both teams and pairs.

Young Clayshots More Info

Young Clayshots

This course is hosted at a local professional shooting school and caters for beginners or more experienced shots. Coached in small groups the course covers all aspects of safe gun handling before coaching and practice begins. By the end of the week the students would be shooting a wide variety of targets including driven, crossing and going away targets. Also during the week there will be an opportunity to shoot a variety of fixed targets using .22 air rifles. The climax of the course will be a team flush competition on the final day.

A country sport for the true individualist, fly-fishing is like riding a bicycle, once you have mastered the basics you never forget. Casting, strategy and tactics, understanding the wily trout, landing a fish, tying knots and even making your own flies are all covered in this fascinating new course. Fishing on the College trout lake and a stretch of the River Kennet, you will become competent at a skilled sport that you can take up again at any stage of your life. A course for all ages.
