Gala Performances
All entertainments are included in the residential price, but residents must reserve their free tickets for the Gala Performances by 1st June 2012. The Gala Concerts are open to Summer School customers and members of the general public and tickets can be purchased online below.
Tickets will not be dispatched before Summer School starts. Residential customers can collect their tickets from their House Manager in their accommodation upon arrival. Non-residents should collect their tickets on the door of the performance or from the Summer School office from Sunday 22nd July 2012.
Tickets can be purchased during Summer School subject to availability. Tickets will be sold at full price from the Summer School office and on the door, subject to availability.

Ed Stafford 'Walking the Amazon'
On the 9th August 2010, explorer Ed Stafford walked into the history books after completing the longest jungle expedition ever undertaken to become the first man to walk the length of the Amazon River. Previously thought of as an ‘impossible' feat, Ed's success in navigating the entire length of the 4000 mile River on foot proved once and for all that if you have a dream, and you have the determination to succeed, then nothing is impossible. Stafford filmed and blogged his deadly journey, engaging followers around the globe and providing an exciting and enthralling route for others into the Amazon jungle.

'Out of this World' - The songs of Harold Arlen
Claire Martin OBE and Sir Richard Rodney BennettThis inspired pairing left the New York Observer enthusing that their performances are "Wise and cultivated, satisfying, heavenly and fulfilling". In their highly anticipated new show, Claire Martin and Richard Rodney Bennett include world famous songs and other stylishly reworked gems from the songbook of Harold Arlen, the composer most closely connected to jazz amongst the Great American songwriters. He became closely associated with movies, including The Wizard Of Oz andA Star is Born, through songs such as Over the Rainbow, That Old Black Magic, Get Happy, It's Only A Paper Moon and The Man That Got Away.

'Silver' - Return to Treasure Island
Sir Andrew MotionAndrew Motion, Poet Laureate (1999-09), introduces his eagerly awaited sequel to Treasure Island, featuring a cast of noble seamen, murderous pirates and tales of love, valour and terrible cruelty. He also reads from his latest book of poems, The Cinder Path (Faber) shortlisted for the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry, Laurels and Donkeys on conflicts from 1914 to the war in Afghanistan, his acclaimed autobiography In The Blood - A Memoir of My Childhood and answers questions about his writing and the role of Poet Laureate. The evening will be brought to a close with the opportunity of meeting Sir Andrew and a book signing.

An Evening with Claire Jones
Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales 2007-2011Claire is rapidly gaining an international reputation through her concerto and recital work, as well as her recordings and TV appearances. Her final duty as official royal harpist was to perform (by personal invitation) at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. You will get to hear the piece specifically requested by Katherine as well as extracts from Claire's biggest selling album, the Highgrove Suite (by Patrick Hawes) in this wide-ranging programme of beautiful and elegant music.

Queen's Jubilee Concert
Avebury Vocal Ensemble (conductor Sir Peter Beale) Ian Crabbe (organ) Clare McCaldin (mezzo soprano/narrator) Music Of Renown Ensemble
A grand celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee exploring works and composers featured in the Coronation. Starting in the Chapel, you will hear Walton's Crown Imperial, Parry's I was Glad and Handel's Zadok the Priest as well as having the opportunity to join in with Vaughan Williams' All people that on earth do dwell and Parry's Jerusalem. Moving to the Memorial Hall, the second half of the concert will feature Walton's jazz-based masterpiece, Façade as well as a newly commissioned work by Rachel Stott called ‘The last journey of Princess Elizabeth' - a reference not only to Her Majesty's accession to the throne, but also to the final journey of the GWR engine 'Princess Elizabeth', which was decommissioned in Swindon in February 1952.

Your favourite pop, rock and R'n'B from the last 50 years of chartbusting hits, played irresistibly, infectiously and immaculately by the Fat Chance Band, featuring vocalist Graham Dee. Billed as 'the best rock 'n' roll band in the West End, ever!' by the London Evening Standard, the band started life as the original rhythm section from the West End production of Grease in 1993. The six band members have a rare and enviable CV: Five Royal Variety Command Performances, TV and touring credits with Boyzone, Take That, Robbie Williams, Ray Charles, The Bee Gees, Cliff Richard, Lulu, Michael Ball, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Dionne Warwick and West End Shows such as We Will Rock You, Chicago and Mamma Mia.
