Choose the courses you are interested in, add them to your short list then book and pay for them along with your accommodation and entertainment tickets on-line through our secure booking system.
We do not perform the transaction online, instead we perform a manual credit card transaction at the Marlborough College Summer School office based upon the details that you have entered into this website and sent through our secure server.

Quick Book - Entertainment Tickets Only
Those not attending courses at Summer School 2008 or students who want extra entertainment tickets can purchase them through the Quick Book system.
This system is only used for purchasing entertainment tickets.
Adult students who are resident at Summer School are eligible for free entertainment tickets *. Free tickets can only be obtained as part of a full booking.

For those who don't want to make their booking online or over the phone you can order a brochure complete with booking forms from the Order A Brochure page of this website.
My Short List is a tool that helps you choose the courses you want to attend at Summer School 2008. Courses you are interested in can be saved by adding them to the short list then these choices can be listed later for your convenience.
The Short List is especially usefull if you intend to book your courses online through this website. Any courses you have added to the short list are easilly available as a list in the booking pages.
The Short List is easilly printable for your reference.
Browse through the website looking at the courses available this year. Whenever you see a course that you are interested in click the "Add to Short List" button next to that course, a message will appear telling you that the course has been added to your short list.
You can view your Short List by clicking the "View My Short List" button which is in the left hand column of the pages within this website, below the other page buttons. From this page you can see what courses are already in your list, add new ones by clicking the add a course link or remove courses by clicking the - (minus) to the right of their details.
If you book online through this website then your Short List is used to help speed up the booking process, although a full list of all the courses is also always available.
Your Short List choices are saved whenever you leave the website so the next time you return they will still be there in your short list.
Please note that as Summer School approaches course tend to get fully booked. You will not be able to add a course that is fully booked to your Short List and any that were saved from a previous visit to the website will be removed.
The 'My Short List' functionality uses JavaScript and Cookies to choose, save and recover your choices.
JavaScript is an in-line (written into the page) programming language that allows website designers to create advanced functionality such as that used in this website.
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored on a user's computer and can be used to save and recall data.
In the 'My Short List' functionality JavaScript is used to monitor the choices a user makes when on a course page, such as adding a course to the short list. When they go to another page the choices they made are saved in a Cookie.
When the user finally reaches the My Short List page or the Online Booking Pages JavaScript reads the information stored in the Cookie and uses this to populate the user's choices into the page.

An online system that lets you choose the courses you are interested in, add them to your short list then book and pay for them along with your accommodation and entertainment tickets on-line through our secure booking system.
Follow the instructions given on each of the pages in the booking process, they are repeated here with some extra details.
The most important thing is to REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR CHOICES.

Contact Details Page
Enter the details of the person who will the main point of contact for this booking.
All correspondance about your booking will be sent to this person so please make sure that the details you enter are correct.
It is particularly important that you enter a valid email address and telephone number so that we can contact you directly.
Remember to tick the "Is this person going to attend Summer School" box if this person will be attending courses at the summer school. If they are not then please untick this box.
Remember to click the "Save Contact Details" button when you have finished entering your information.

Students Page
The List of Students shows those people already added to your booking and will initially consist of only your booking contact.
Add students to your booking by filling in the "Add A Student" form, then clicking the "Add Student" button, they will be added to your list of students.
Please make sure you complete all of the fields.
Remove students by clicking on the DELETE link to the right of their details.
If you make a mistake, DELETE the student then add them again.
The Main Booking Contact cannot be deleted.

Courses Page
Pick a student by clicking on their name. Then choose what courses and accommodation this student requires before saving their choices. When you have finished one student choose the next by clicking on their name.
Students who have been completed will have a
next to their names, students you still need to make choices for will have a 
next to their name.All students must be completed before you can move to the next stage of your booking.
The name of the student you are currently making choices for will appear below the list of students.
Choose courses by either:
- Clicking on the name of the course in the "My Short List" panel.
or
- Click on the "full course list" link to open a new window showing all courses available. Click on the name of the course you want to choose.
The chosen course will now appear in the "My Courses" panel. To remove a course click on its name and it will be removed.
Choose the type of accommodation you require from the drop down list. If you don't require accommodation then select "No Accommodation Required".
If you choose a room type that can hold multiple people you can choose which other students you want to share the room with by clicking on their names.
Please note that Family rooms MUST have at least one adult sharing with any young people staying in them.
If the student is an unaccompanied young person then there is a surcharge if they are going to be staying for the weekend. Please select how many weekends the student will be staying.
Choose the transfer that the student needs from the drop down.
Please indicate if you are Blue Badge holder and send a photocopy of your badge to us so that we can arrange parking passes for you.
Enter any special requirements or other information that we will find useful into the comments field.
Finally click the "Save This Student's Information" button when you have finished making choices for a student. Make sure that you do this before choosing the next student or your choices will be lost!

Entertainment Page
Residential students over 16 years of age are eligible for free entertainment tickets as are under 16s who take full price rooms. Additional tickets are available for sale.
You have 0 eligible students and are thus allowed 0 free tickets for each of the events listed.
Remember to click the "Save Ticket Choices" button when your have chosen your tickets.

Summary Page
Choose whether you want to pay in full now or a deposit only.
Check your booking summary to make sure it is correct.
By clicking on the "Pay Now" button and submitting your booking you are assumed to agree to our terms and conditions.
We recommend that you print a copy of this page for your records or at least make a note of your Booking Reference number.
When you are happy click the "Pay Now" button, an email of your booking will be sent to us and you will be taken to our secure payment system.

Click on the "Book Now" button which is on the left hand side of the website below the navigation buttons. Then click on the "Quick Book - Entertainment Only" option to be taken to the Entertainment booking page.
The table on this page lists the six entertainment events that will be held at Summer School this year. Simply select how many tickets you want for each event by using the drop-down list to the right of the price. The total cost of your tickets is shown at the bottom of the table.
Click the "Order Tickets" button below the table when you have finished choosing how many tickets you want. You will be taken to the personal details page.
Enter your personal details. We need this information so that we can post you your tickets. We recommend that you make a note of your Booking Reference number in case you need to contact us. When you have finished click the "Pay Now" button to continue.
You will be taken to our secure credit card page where you can enter your payment details.

The credit card information page should show your Booking Reference code, the name of the main point of contact for your booking and the transaction ammount. This will be how much you are paying now. If you are making a full booking and chose to pay a deposit then only the deposit will be taken now and the balance later.
Choose your card type and enter the relevent information into the form fields. It is very important that the information you enter is correct. If your information is not correct your booking will be delayed until we can get the correct information from you.
When the transaction actually occurs
The online booking options on the Marlborough College Summer School website safely collect your credit card details on a secure server and transmit them to us in the form of an encrypted (coded) email.
The transaction itself will not occur until your booking has been received and checked by Summer School staff at which point your credit card infromation will be decoded and the transaction processed.
We make every effort to process all booking as rapidly as possible, but please leave a couple of days for us to process your booking before contacting us with any queries.
Many people have concerns about how safe it is to purchase goods and servcies over the internet. There a large number of websites that can provide you with information about how safe internet shopping is, most will recommend that you check that any transaction takes place on a Secure Server. (see below)
As well as using a secure server we also use encryption to protect your credit card details.
The page that you enter your credit card details into is on a "Secure Server". A secure server is a type of website that has additional protection and security to prevent unathorised access. You should never ever enter credit card informtaion into a website that is not on a secure server.
You can identify if a website is on a secure server by:
- There will be a small padlock symbol
shown by your browser, either near the address line at the top or at the bottom right. (position varies depending on which browser you are using)
- The address of the website will start with https instead of just http - the s indicates that it is a secure server.
Your credit card details are sent to us via encrypted email from a secure server. We use the OpenPGP protocol for email encryption. For more information about OpenPGP please visit the OpenPGP Alliance website.
In real terms email encrypted using OpenPGP are effectively unreadable by anyone who doesn't have the encryption key. It has been estimated that it would take all the computers in the world working together years to break a single encrypted email.

If the 'My Short List' functionality or the navigation on the left hand side of the site is not working there are a couple of possible causes:
Most browsers can be configured to suit your individual requirements. One such choice is the ability to 'turn-off' JavaScript. This website relies heavily on JavaScript, if you have switched this off then the functionality within this site will not work!

We experienced a bug in certain older versions of browsers particularly Internet Explorer 6. The website has been changed to fix this problem but you may find it necessary to reset the "My Short List" cookie, you can do this by clicking the link below:

If this does not solve any problems you are having please contact us directly and we will be happy to take you booking over the phone or by email.
Firewalls protect your computer from outside attack. Some Firewalls allow you to block Cookies, if this is the case then the 'My Short List' functionality will not work.
While this website has been thoroughly tested it is always possible that you may encounter a programming error. If you do then we would be grateful if you could email us at admin@mcsummerschool.org.uk with the details of what happened and we will deal with the problem as soon as possible. In th meantime, you can contact us directly to book your courses.
This website has been designed to work in the most popular and common internet browsers, we cannot guarantee that it will function correctly in unusual or obscure browsers.
