WEEK 1 Tuesday 15 July

The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes

Roger Llewellyn as Sherlock Holmes

A dramatic end... a thrilling comeback - the World's Greatest Detective refuses to leave the stage! Arthur Conan Doyle tires of his famous sleuth and uses the arch villain Moriarty to dispose of him. But just as raising the spirits of the dead becomes an obsession in the author's own life, so his fictional creations return to thrill, intrigue and dazzle us. A wry tale of murder, mystery and the occult.

'I was totally spellbound by Llewellyn's performance in this masterpiece of theatre. It is faultless & of the highest pedigree... an electrifying exhibition of theatrical art : this is not merely highly recommended, it should be compulsory viewing.'
BBC Arts Review

David Briggs - Organ

Phantom of the Opera

Listed by most historians as one of the 10 greatest films of all time, Marlborough College Summer School proudly presents Lon Chaney in the spellbinding 1925 silent movie "Phantom of the Opera".

In a hushed, darkened chapel, with the movie looming large at the front and an improvised, dramatic, postromantic score coming from a wonderful instrument such as the new Beckerath organ, the effect will be mesmerising!

'The playing is unquestionably marvellous: shapely, virtuosic, and poetic in turns...stupendous technical brilliance, musical imagination of the first order and breathless inspiration.'
The Organists' Review, UK

In short: they’ve been 'Here,There and Everywhere'. If you want a 'Ticket To Ride' to see the Bootleg Beatles then all the 'Help!' you need is the ticket booking form. It is not 'The Long and Winding Road' to Sound Knowledge either. Come and experience 'A Day in the Life' of Summer School just west of the 'Strawberry Fields'. Don’t miss it; look what happened to 'Eleanor Rigby'.
